30 Things I've Learned: #12
- Burn the candle. Use the nice silverwear. Wear the expensive lingerie
Everyone is waiting. For what? The right event. The right dinner. The right guy. The right something. But what about a random Tuesday night? I used to have a box of "nice" silverwear. Then I bought some vintage silverwear, mixed in my nice and each time I opened the drawer it made me smile - new and old. I'm not sure what I was waiting for, Thanksgiving? There's usually 3 of us (at most). Fancy dinner party? Never had one.
When I worked at a previous company I bought a lot of nice lingerie. I rarely wore it. Valentine's day? Eh, maybe. Once I becamse single I started wearing it weekly. I would have "date myself" nights. I'd light candles, make a Bon Appetit worthy dinner, pour wine, wear my beautiful lingerie and have an exuisite evening. It was not only fulfilling, but absolutely worth spending the money on. I no longer have anything I'm "saving for a special occasion". Random Tuesdays? They count! Nights alone? Yep, counts too. The holidays, the dinner parties, the boy - they're all special occasions in their own right just because of the company, not the "stuff".
Burn the candle. Use the silverwear. Wear the lingerie. They are just things. Create an experience. Create something worth remembering.
