Favorite Place Friday: Cabo San Lucas
"I blew out my flip-flop
Stepped on a pop-top
Cut my heel had to cruise on back home
But there's booze in the blender
And soon it will render
That frozen concoction that helps me hang on"
I recently attended a friends wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. It was beyond amazing. The single best thing I found out upon landing - there is NO humidity in Cabo - aka: my hair won't frizz out chia pet style. Right behind that was the "Two for One" that Cabo adheres too. The restaurants on the beach (all the time), as well as our hotel (mon, wed, fri and weekends) had "two for one" happy hour. Talk about a money saver (and who doesn't like something free, especially alcohol).
The trip started with seeing our room: 2 bathrooms, living room, dining room, 2 balconies, a bathtub for an entire family - we apparently were rolling Jay-Z style. We hit up the pool with all of friends and drank as many drinks as possible. The days that followed included paddle boarding - harder than it looks - but I got up! Success! , parasailing (HIGHLY recommend), and taking a glass bottom boat to lovers beach which borders the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean. The wedding was the most beautiful ceremony I have ever attended. It was promptly followed by a reception in which everyone danced for appx 4 hours and sang at the top of their lungs (even though karaoke was not on the itinerary). For anyone looking to have a destination wedding I highly recommend Cabo. The city is clean, most everyone speaks English, and the views are stunning.
Hotel we stayed at:
Casa Dorada - beautiful rooms, located close to great restaurants on the beach, great pool. Bonus: Starbucks coffee on site and my favorite - the coffee bar right across the street.
the view from our room
Hotel where wedding was:
Cabo Del Sol - several of the boys played golf here and said it was beautiful. They also offer a Sunday brunch said to be the "best in Cabo" (one of the guys who attended the wedding and now lives in Cabo vouches for this claim). It is $39.99 per person and includes unlimited mimosa's and AMAZING food: lobster tails, lobster egg rolls, sushi, pork tenderloin, lamb chops, make your own crepe station, fondue fountain, and then all of your traditional breakfast fare (and a lot more).
Restaurants:
Bar Esquina to go (the coffee bar across the street) - get their smoothies, amazing!
Bar Esquina - get the pizza. It's amazing.
The Office - it's on the beach. Get the shrimp tacos (not the fish) and the guacamole of course.
